Condolences to all the family of this rather lovely person - Auntie Nora. We were so lucky to have her in our lives for all these years. A visit to Chaffcombe Road was always fun and I agree with Louise that the scrambled eggs she fed to us as two little girls missing their Mom were just perfect (I still do them the same way now). Nora was a great example to us younger ones, of how to stay independent, enthused and still very much a part of life, even with advancing years. I'll miss you, but I'm so glad I knew you xxx

I've been digging through some of the things connected with Nora and two things were there in her own handwriting. One was a recipe for green tomato chutney which she gave me about 10 years ago. The other, in contrast was a page from one of those autograph books that people used to have. It was a page written in 1947 for my Moms book. It is I suppose a sentimental verse but what's wrong with that. I took a photo but here it is typed out:
"We are atoms that float on the river of years,
On our way to the ultimate sea
And Time with its swiftness, its smiles and its tears
Bring changes to you and to me,
But if as the swift footed years hurry by,
We lose sight of each other at last
Let us always remember that we – you and I
Were once friends in the far reaching past".

I also want to put on record Nora's great cooking of scrambled eggs when she minded my sister and myself when our own Mother was in hospital for 3 weeks. Apparently we told our Mother that Nora's were much better!! She was a great example of how to keep yourself going, thank you Nora. Louisexx

Condolences to everyone in the Brennan family on a sad loss. My memory of Nora is of a vivid, vital and above all youthful woman who loved company and was so obviously loved by all the family. I know how the addition of grandchildren to the circle added to her life, but can only imagine how inspired she must have been by the later marriage of Peter and Wendy. Love to all, Snig
